Nose Aesthetics in Harmony with Facial Features

When viewed from the side, the profile angle, the tip of the nose, the bridge of the nose, and the angles with the forehead determine our entire expression. While patients often come to us complaining only of a “hooked nose” or a “drooping nose tip,” what they are actually looking for is perfect harmony with all their facial features. Rhinoplasty is not just about change, it’s the art of creating balance.

Why is Profile Design Important?

A nose may have “ideal” proportions on its own, but it may not suit every face type. In our surgical philosophy, there is no place for the “one nose for every face” approach. When designing the profile, we apply these three golden rules:

  1. Nasolabial Angle (Nose-Lip Angle): The degree to which the tip of the nose is lifted should be determined by the position of your lips and chin. A nose that is too lifted can look artificial, while a nose that is too low can make a person look older or more tired.
  2. Nasofrontal Angle (Nose-Forehead Transition): The angle that the point where the nose begins makes with the forehead directly affects the depth of the gaze and the intensity of the expression. A natural transition reinforces the success of the operation.
  3. Volume and Proportion: When removing the hump on the nasal bridge, we plan the height of the nasal bridge millimeter by millimeter according to the width of the face.

Expectation of Change and Reality

The stunning transformations you see in our Instagram content are the result of detailed pre-operative analyses. We provide the clearest answer to our patients’ question, “How will I look after surgery?”, by analyzing the bone structure of the face, skin thickness, and its relationship with other features (jaw, cheekbones).

The Secret to Naturalness: A Personalized Approach

As we emphasized in our last post, our top priority is ensuring that the post-operative result does not negatively impact the patient’s character or expression. Our patient’s new nose is both natural enough to elicit a comment from their social circle that “there’s something beautiful, but it’s not entirely clear what it is,” and healthy enough to allow for optimal breathing.
